A diamond certificate verifies not only that the diamond you purchase is natural but also evaluates the quality and weight of the diamond.
A certificate issued by a Gemological laboratory details the 'grade' which indicates the physical properties of the diamond. They are the cut, clarity, colour and carat of the diamond otherwise known as the four C's. A certificate differs from a valuation or appraisal which is an indication of the financial value of the piece under consideration. With every diamond ring we sell, we also supply a valuation for insurance.
A certificate enables you to purchase your diamond ring with confidence but it should be noted that a certificated diamond is an experts' opinion and grading is not an exact science. Sometimes different experts may grade the same diamond slightly differently.
Remember, if a jewellery retailer offers to sell you a diamond ring without certification, you are buying the diamond based on the sales persons claims about the quality of the diamond and essentially the more you spend the greater the need for a certificate.
Every diamond ring we manufacture is supplied with a certificate issued by either the Gemological Institute of America, commonly known as the GIA, the HRD Institute of Gemology or our own certification in conjunction with the diamond grading service provided by Birmingham Assay Office.
